HIDDEN TASTES ...
Quite a while back (like 3 years) , I attended this yoga course . In one of the 'sessions' , we were made to to do some hardcore yoga exercises for about 2 hours or more at a stretch . It was also held during dinner time and all the parcitipants had not eaten . We were awaiting the feast that was promised to us at the end of our exercises ... After that 2 hours , all of our stomachs were lined with digestive juices and our mouths were watering for food . Our throats dry , quenching and aching for moisture . Then ...
DINNER WAS SERVED . Uber healthy food . Made by God, Nature him/itself . Beautiful, Scently and waiting to be eaten, to be consumed ... we had exactly 1 little tiny grape and 1 small banana for dinner . THAT'S IT !!!
Most of us thought it was a joke , like this was the appetizer or something . But instead , this was infact another exercise ! An exercise designed to unlock the hidden taste buds we have . We were made to hold the grape in our mouths for 5 minutes , rolling on it , sucking it , gently tearing at it ... wondering what lies beneath that seductive looking thin flesh covering ...
I thought to myself "what a load of bullshit, they don't even have the money to serve us a proper dinner!" ... but I stood positive in my thoughts ... I could learn something from this, I was paying $200 bucks for the course !!! So , I tried , I licked , rolled , did amazing feats with my tongue ... suddenly , I discovered many many many new tastes and subtastes , ... and stuff . Apparently this act of slowing down and REALLY learning to appreciate your food works and pays off ! It's like some really sensitive parts of my taste buds opened up ... where I was previously confined to things being 'sweet, bitter, salty ...' etc ... I could know describe the tastes in more details ... within that grape laid a myriad of wonderfully enchanting tastes ... just as nature made it .
That was the best tasting grape I have ever ate . (same goes for the banana) ... So , next time when you're having a fruit , do take a time to do this experiment ! (with your eyes closed, for more attention and focus) ... it's amazing ... what your tongue can do . :) I like my tongue =)
